How to use the trainer

Read your three cards

The trainer deals a random three-card poker hand face up.

Make the call

Choose Play (make the Play bet) or Fold using the Q-6-4 rule.

Check yourself

Repeat

Run twenty or thirty hands until borderline Queen-high hands feel automatic.

The rule you are drilling

The trainer is teaching one thing: play Queen-Six-Four or better, fold everything worse. Always play a King or Ace high hand and any pair; with a Queen high, play only when the next card is a 6 or higher. The hands that trip people up are the marginal Queen-high holdings, so pay attention when the trainer marks those — that is where most players leak value at the three card poker table.

Why practice beats feel

Three card poker is a fast casino game, and it is easy to fold a marginal hand you should play or chase one you should fold. Each mistake hands the house extra edge. Because the correct card poker strategy is a single rule, a short trainer session locks it in for good — and from then on you play every hand at the game's minimum house edge of about 2% on the element of risk. Study the reasoning on the strategy page, the numbers on the odds page, or the full rules.

How three card poker works

The trainer only makes sense once you know the game, so here is the short version. Three card poker is played against the dealer: you post an Ante bet, you and the dealer each get a three-card poker hand, and you choose to fold or make a Play bet. The dealer qualifies with Queen-high or better; when the dealer qualifies you must beat the dealer's hand to win both the Ante and Play bets. Every three card poker hand — from high card up to a three of a kind or straight flush — is ranked, and the trainer shows that rank each time so you learn to read a poker hand at a glance.

What the three card poker trainer teaches

The trainer drills the one skill that matters in this casino game: making the correct Play-or-Fold call on the Ante and Play bets. Hand after hand it deals a random three card poker hand, you decide, and it grades you against optimal Q-6-4 strategy. Over a few dozen hands you will stop hesitating on marginal Queen-high holdings, instantly recognise when a pair or a three of a kind makes the decision automatic, and learn how often each poker hand actually shows up. That pattern recognition is what separates a player who beats the game's variance from one who leaks edge on every borderline three card poker hand.

From trainer to the casino table

Because three card poker uses a single strategy rule, the jump from the trainer to a real casino game is short. Once you are calling Play or Fold correctly nine or ten times out of ten, you are playing the Ante and Play bets at the game's minimum house edge — about 2% on the element of risk. Keep the Pair Plus side bet small, apply Q-6-4 to every three card poker hand, and let the trainer's muscle memory do the rest.
