For example, at a game with a 2% house edge, betting $10 a hand for 60 hands an hour, you calculate the house edge cost as $10 × 0.02 × 60 = $12 per hour on average. Lowering any of the three inputs — a smaller bet, a lower-edge game, or fewer hands per hour — lowers your expected loss proportionally. Two players at the same house edge can lose very different amounts, because speed and bet size matter as much as the edge itself.
